Your faith transition marks the beginning of your identity reconstruction.

You used to “believe” the truth claims of the LDS church. You had the plan of salvation. The entire structure for your life was given to you.

When you let go of the foundational beliefs that have shaped your identity and your worldview, everything becomes unknown. If you’ve experienced this mind shift, you know exactly what I’m talking about. I call the experience a realiquake (“reality-earthquake”). Like any big quake, it’s followed by aftershocks — which can last weeks or months. Once you get through the intensity of deconstructing your identity, you are left with the responsibility of figuring out who you are.

How can you know what you want now after being told continually by the church exactly what you should want?

For many of us as post-Mormons, it’s the stage of identity reconstruction that’s the most challenging of all.

Did you leave the church a while ago but still don’t know who you are or what you want?

13 signs you’re stuck in “identity limbo”

  1. You’re often triggered by social media posts about Mormonism.
  2. You feel “silenced” by your believing family and friends.
  3. You are coping with anxiety by over-eating, over-drinking, or over-working.
  4. Your resentment over choices you could have made is getting in the way of making choices now.
  5. You have difficulty making decisions.
  6. You’re afraid to trust anyone — including yourself.
  7. You don’t practice self-care because it still feels selfish.
  8. You feel like a bad person if you disappoint others.
  9. Your feelings of anger or shame are harming relationships you want.
  10. You feel you have to prove or defend your “goodness”.
  11. You want to escape all things Mormon, but can’t. It’s driving you insane!
  12. You don’t know when to set or how to enforce boundaries.
  13. You feel lost — like you don’t “fit in” anywhere.

If you have one or all of these signs, coaching can help. The key to getting out of “identity limbo” is a step-by-step process that empowers you to get to know yourself.

Who I am and how I support you

I’m Claudine Gallacher and I’m a certified life coach who specializes in the needs of post-Mormons. I understand what it’s like to come out of religious trauma.

What you can expect from me

  • I won’t diagnose you. I’m not a therapist, but I will refer you to therapy if I think that’s a better fit for your needs.
  • I won’t use high-pressure sales strategies to manipulate you.
  • I won’t tell you what to do or what to believe.
  • I’ll give you tools to help you discover what you want to create going forward.
  • I’ll show you how to cope with and learn from your uncomfortable emotions.
  • I’ll ask questions that will open your brain to see new options and make decisions that align with what you care about.

“Mormon-Think” won’t work anymore and it sneaks up on all of us. I’m an expert at spotting the places where you’re holding on to an old belief that no longer serves you.

I already know you have COURAGE! You were willing to ask questions most Mormons will never ask.

But even the most courageous need support from those who understand this journey.

Before coaching, I felt anxious, nervous, stressed out and full of fear every day. Now, I’m not as afraid. I feel more optimistic and excited than I have in a long time. Claudine is personable, intuitive, supportive, and patient. She was just what I needed in my life and I highly recommend her as a coach.

Claudine has an amazing ability to see situations clearly. The insights I’ve gained from her have been invaluable—not only in the relationships I was seeking help for but also in my interactions with every person I meet. Claudine is a gifted life coach and I highly recommend her services to anyone.

Claudine took the time to really listen to me and she understands what it’s like to go through a faith transition. She is sensitive, smart, and articulate.

When I left the church, my world had been turned on its head. I felt that I no longer belonged with my family, friends, and community. I became fearful and felt that the extreme negativity I had been met with had permanently damaged me. Though coaching, I learned how to process my feelings and “be there” for myself. I learned how to maintain a healthy and positive relationship with my family, friends, and community. I am now experiencing the happiest and most confident time of my life!

Before my first coaching session, I was nervous. After talking to Claudine, I felt like I could conquer the world!

Being coached exceeded my expectations. I experienced multiple breakthroughs working with Claudine. I’m no longer afraid of conflict in my extended family relationships and I feel optimistic about the future. Anytime I experience a difficult situation, I use the framework she taught me. So empowering!

When I signed up for coaching, I felt like my life was falling apart.  I was completely miserable and didn’t see any way that it could get better.  Claudine helped me see a way out. I’ve learned how to take back power over my emotions. I’m still working through the process, but I’m no longer in that dark place.

Coaching was a wonderful experience for me. Before I started these sessions, I was struggling to handle the effects of changing my belief system and I was dealing with major anxiety. Coaching helped me start to replace my habits of avoidance and self-blame with much more healthy and productive strategies. Using the strategies Claudine taught has helped me grow more confident, patient, and peaceful inside.

I have been to probably a dozen therapists over the years.  I know there is a place for therapy, but my experience with Claudine as a life coach was more concentrated and empowering.  I had to move back near my extended family and all their judgment, etc.  I was in a fetal position thinking about it. But Claudine gave me the tools to do it.  Before I go to a family thing, I review the tools and fortify myself.  I’m more confident now, happier, and I stopped caring so much about what they think.

Before my coaching sessions with Claudine, I was struggling knowing how it could be possible to both support my very active LDS husband and stay true to my own beliefs and integrity.  Claudine’s coaching was truly transformative.  I was able to not only support my husband as he received a new church calling, but also attend church intermittently without feeling as overwhelmed and angry as I had the two years before. I truly feel like the tools she taught me have lifted a burden…and helped me stride joyfully ahead to the future I want to create.
